What.....Bad Plastic?

So I was watching PBS and Bill Moyer was telling us about Bisphenol-A.(BPA) I always hated plastic so now there is proof its bad for me and you. Bisphenol-A is a synthetic sex hormone that mimics estrogen, and is found in everyday products. It has affected the development of animals leading to cancer, and is found in 93% of human beings. This is a sensetive issue because it effects mothers and their babies even more, but in the US baby bottles are made of the stuff. The compaines behind the chemical say its safe. We hope so almost all containers are made entirley of it or just has a coating of it along the inside. Even canned food and some soda cans are coneceted to this specific plastic. Not the only bad chemical in the plastic that surounds us.
Who is out there to keep us safe from these chemical dangers? Faster then a speeding bullet, able to...to what? The environmental protection agency or the federal government, you would think, would be willing and able to do something. In other countries they have passed laws that protect people from things like rBTS and BPA.
Should we write to our local senator? Boycott Distributors? There are some ways to get plastic out of our lives. Know what kind of plastic you have around you. Find places to properly recycle plastic. What I do is buy everything in glass, from mustard and ketchup to salad dressing and pasta sauce. You can find glass containers with lids for leftovers, get a glass blender, or a glass coffee press. then throw out all plastic cups and dishes from your cabinets. Its easier then you think. Remember you are a product of your surroundings.
